As The Great Escape looms, a whole plethora of new bands seem to be coming out of the woodwork and one that has caught our ear is the authentic indie band Desert Planes. This London outfit with just two members, singer Tom Farrer and drummer Ben Niblett, create a sound on their new single 'Wake In Fright' that is so much bigger than their physical size. Anthemic rather than shambling, theirs is a more euphoric and considered approach than the usual three chords anarchically chucked together. Produced by Richard Turvey, the same man behind Blossoms' recent success, great things could be coming for this new indie act. - SJ
